Working Together
Working Together...
Communities and facilities can work together to reduce risk. Many companies have already cut back on routine emissions, reduced the quantities of chemicals stored, or switched to less hazardous chemicals. In all cases, improved operations, such as better employee training, operating procedures, and preventive equipment maintenance, can reduce risks and improve the efficiency of the business. EPA and OSHA have imposed such safe practice requirements on facilities that handle the most hazardous chemicals. The community can use the data available under the law as a way to spark dialogue with facilities to determine which risks need to be reduced and how to go about it.
