Vickie Reed, a Supervisor Officer in the Adult Probation Office is the Justice Center Employee of the Month for April.

Vickie has faithfully served Delaware County Government for 35 years, including 30 years as a dedicated adult probation officer for the circuit courts. During that time, Vickie has played a key role in shaping the very foundation of our probation department. Her leadership and initiative were key in launching several of the core programs we still rely on today, most notably the pretrial release program, which helped alleviate jail overcrowding in the former Justice Center, the administrative fee collection hearings that contribute to the department's fiscal sustainability, and the creation of our quality assurance program, which continues to improve accountability and outcomes across the board. What has always set Vickie apart is her presence and leadership. She has been a steady positive force during departmental transitions, changes to legal standards, and community needs. Vickie takes her role as a public official seriously and embodies the values of perseverance, fairness, and accountability. She serves as a mentor to many of our officers and is a role model to all.  As she often says "I love my job" and it shows. One of Vickie's catchphrases to her clients has become legendary within our office: "This Isn't Burger King, you can't have it your way."; While lighthearted, the message is clear: She has always held clients accountable, not out of threat of punishment, but out of her belief in their potential for change. She sets firm expectations but at the same time supports individuals by meeting them where they are at and walking the line between compassion and structure with skill and sincerity. Vickie's legacy working in Delaware County government is one of impact, innovation, and integrity. She has not only helped shape the direction of the probation department, but she has also influenced the culture of the courthouse and impacted the lives of those she has worked with and supervised.
